Home / Privacy note

Privacy note

A plain-language note about how Joe Munchy handles your personal information, following Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 151 of 2020). Last updated November 2026.

Who is responsible
Joe Munchy is responsible for the information you give us on this website. You can reach us on WhatsApp or Instagram (links at the bottom of this note) about anything in it.
What we collect
When you order: your name, phone number, email (if you add it), delivery address and governorate, any delivery instructions, what you ordered, and whether it is paid. If it is a gift, the message you write for the card.
If you ask to hear when a sold-out item is back: the email or WhatsApp number you leave, and which item.
If you sign up for news and offers: your email and the shop language you were using.
If you create an account: your name, phone number, email (if you add it), city and address, and a password. We cannot read your password: it is stored scrambled, in a way that cannot be turned back.
To keep the shop safe: a scrambled form of your internet (IP) address, used only to limit repeated login, sign-up and order attempts.
Why we use it
We use your order details because we need them to deliver your order, confirm it with you, and handle exchanges and refunds. We use your account details to run the account you asked for. We send emails only for your account (a code to confirm your email, and a code if you forget your password), and one message when an item you asked about is back in stock. We keep records our accounts and tax rules require, and we use the safety information to stop misuse of the site. We will only send you news or offers if you tell us you want them, and you can stop them at any time.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information. We share only what each one needs:
• our team, and the delivery company that brings your order (name, phone, address, what to deliver);
• the payment company you choose (Paymob, Kashier or Fawry), if you pay online (name, phone, address, order total). You type your card or wallet details on that company's secure page; we never see or store them;
• WhatsApp (Meta), when we confirm your order with you there;
• Cloudflare, which runs our website and stores its data;
• Resend, which sends our emails (your email address and the message);
• Google Fonts, which supplies the letter shapes on our pages and sees your internet address when they load.
Information outside Egypt
Cloudflare, Resend, Meta and Google may store or handle information on servers outside Egypt. We choose well-known providers that protect information with strong security.
How long we keep it
Orders: as long as needed for delivery, exchanges and refunds, and for the period Egyptian tax and accounting rules require. After that we delete them or remove your name and contact details.
Accounts: until you delete your account. Your past orders are then kept only as order records, no longer linked to you.
Back-in-stock requests: deleted once we have told you, or after 90 days.
News and offers sign-ups: until you ask us to remove your email (message us on WhatsApp or reply to any of our emails).
Email codes stop working after 10 to 30 minutes. Safety records of internet addresses are used for up to an hour and then cleared out.
How we protect it
Our pages use an encrypted connection (https). Passwords are stored scrambled. Our team can see only what their job needs, and every change they make is recorded. Repeated wrong passwords are blocked. If your information is ever exposed, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask us to: tell you what information we hold about you and give you a copy; correct it; delete it (except order records we must keep by law); stop using it for anything you agreed to, such as offers; or object to how we use it. With an account you can edit your details or delete your account yourself from the account menu. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to Egypt's Personal Data Protection Center.
Age
Accounts are for people aged 18 or over. If you are younger, please ask a parent or guardian to order for you.
Storage on your device
We save your cart, your wishlist (only which items you saved), the items you looked at recently, the governorate you chose for delivery dates, your checkout details if you leave "Remember my details" ticked, and your login on your own device so the site works. You can clear the checkout details any time with "Not you? Clear them" at checkout. If you log in, your wishlist is also kept with your account so you can see it on any device; deleting your account deletes it. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Cloudflare counts visits to our pages for us without cookies and without identifying you, and checks for automated "bot" traffic when you sign up or order.
Changes to this note
If we change this note, we update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information you already gave us, we will tell you first.

Brewing and freshness guide

A few simple habits make every cup taste better.

Keep it fresh

  • Keep beans in their bag with the valve, or in an airtight container, away from light, heat and moisture.
  • Do not keep coffee in the fridge: it takes in smells and moisture.
  • Coffee tastes best within 4 to 6 weeks of roasting, and within days of grinding.

Grind right

  • Grind just before you brew.
  • Espresso: fine. Moka pot: fine to medium. V60 and pour over: medium. French press and cold brew: coarse.
  • Turkish coffee: extra fine, like powder.

Measure

  • Start with 1 g of coffee to 15–16 g of water for filter coffee, then adjust to taste.
  • Espresso: about 18 g of coffee for 36 g of espresso in 25–30 seconds.
  • A coffee scale makes every cup the same.

Water

  • Use filtered water: coffee is almost all water.
  • Brew with water just off the boil, about 92–96 °C.
  • Clean your brewer and grinder often so old coffee oils do not turn bitter.
